Management and Staff
Wonder-Land Christian Preschool adheres to Community Care licensing requirements for all hiring practices, including but not limited to education and a clear criminal background check. In addition, we hire only Christian teachers who have a strong profession of faith and are active in a local church. References are thoroughly checked and prospective teachers spend a day performing a ‘working interview’ which allows Administration to determine if he or she will be a good fit with current staff and clientele.
Continued education is required of all personnel to keep current on advances in Early Childhood education through workshops, classes and seminars. Annually, our staff attend the Association of Christian School International Conference for Early Childhood Education.
Nancy McCreery - Director
Mrs. Nancy McCreery, the Wonder-Land School Director since 2004, established the school in 1968 alongside her mother, Mrs. Elsie Hall. Mrs. McCreery has taught every age group, has worked every position (including cook and bus driver), and has guided the school programs as Assistant Director and now as School Director. Her education and experience has enabled the school to enjoy a solid reputation of quality and care for children in our community for over 40 years.
Patty Jones - Assistant Director
Patty Jones received her Bachelor’s in Christian Ministry from Hope International University in 2007 with an emphasis in education. Patty has been employed with Wonder-Land since early 2001 first as an aide and then as the Kindergarten Teacher. She became the Assistant Director of the School in 2005 working closely with Nancy McCreery to seek curriculum improvements and academic excellence. Patty believes that children learn best in an environment where they can feel secure enough to be themselves and explore without fear of making mistakes. Children need to feel accepted for the wonderful creation they are and they need to feel confident in their ability to learn. Children learn best through play, exploration, experimentation and need time to manipulate, observe and describe what they see to evaluate and solve problems.
Our Wonderful Staff
Many staff members have served at the Wonder-Land School for as long as 14 years. We have teachers who attended WLS as children—as well as parents who came here and have now enrolled their own children in WLS. The high quality of the entire staff is evident as they pursue Early Childhood Education course work, attend workshops, health and safety classes and also various seminars during the year to keep abreast of the current issues and ideas. Staff meetings are held each month to address class enrichment possibilities, site improvements, and to address any safety issues. Your child’s health, safety and welfare are our total concern at Wonder-Land, and we constantly strive to improve class content and subject interest for each child in our care.
